The Technical Writer creates clear documentation, by translating complex information into accessible and easily understood content for various audiences. Collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy. Ensures project deliverables and/or work products meet contract requirements and are formatted to the agreed upon standards. Provides assistance in layout, formatting and grammar to deliver high quality output. This position is remote to the Atlanta, GA area.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must possess appropriate level of certifications as required. 

  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency in documentation tools are essential.  

  • Work is highly independent. 

  • May act as a Team Lead. 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.   

      

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following Other duties may be assigned. 

 

  • Interviews Subject Matter Experts and translates complex information into easily understood, well structured, polished documents. 

  • Reviews, edits, and proofs documents. Handles advanced/complex subjects. Converts document into standard template formats ready for delivery to the customer.  This may include, written and graphical technical materials, including system configurations, interface control documents, system workflow diagrams, drawings, white papers, studies, executive briefings, how-to-guides, instruction manuals/guides and monthly reports. 

  • Supports writing and editing of deliverables and work products and ensures they are stored in a clear, concise, accessible means.

  • Oversees compliance with industry standards and best practices of style and format. Mastery level of the English language. Superior skills in overall structure and organization of material to create professional documentation. 

  • Works in a team environment and is expected to assist other team members as needed.  Provides training and direction for ensuring the achievement of maximum performance with high standards.

  • Responsible for adherence to qualitative and quantitative standards as established to meet contractual obligations and changing business requirements. 

FOR IT RELATED PROJECTS:

  • Creates and publishes technical documentations and manuals. Collects and interprets technical data or information and coordinates layout for publication. 

  • Provides support for all aspects of configuration, administration, training, and end user's support. 

  •  Authors and updates IT end-user documentation. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field and a minimum of seven plus (7+) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.  

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
