The Communications Specialist V is responsible for assisting with writing and communication projects that support a cohesive federal communication strategy which includes workforce communications for civilians and military and external public affairs opportunities. Plans and implements communication strategies. This position is remote to the Atlanta, GA area.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Must possess appropriate level of certifications for this position as required by the contract.    

  •  Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property. 

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following Other duties may be assigned. 

 

  • Leads the implementation of cohesive communications strategies that span social media, media relations, email campaigns, and related communications strategies.

  • Coaches and mentors other communications professionals on the team. Provides training and direction for ensuring the achievement of maximum performance with high standards.

  • Creates and implements communications material that delivers consistent key messages to target audiences through appropriate channels that are consistent with branding, messaging, and digital (social media) strategies.

  • Engages with project stakeholders in written and oral communication effectively and professionally. Prepares quality client deliverables.

  • Supports public engagements, inward-facing engagements (leading the planning and execution of Agency events), media relations, knowledge management, and preserving the agency’s history.

  • Elevates the brand awareness through events, social media, and other communication channels. Makes recommendations for improvements.  

  • Able to work independently. Able to handle complex tasks and projects.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of ten plus (10+) years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.  

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls.
