The Hazardous Waste Personnel works with a team of environmental professionals in Golden, CO. The person in this position possesses sufficient skills and abilities to conduct laboratory activities such as sample login, compiling reports, and other administrative and logistical support tasks with limited supervision. May involve mentoring others and limited oversight of junior laboratory technician's work as well as sufficient versatility to support additional assigned tasks as needed to meet client requirements.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass a U.S. federal security screening prior to beginning employment.

  • Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.

  • Administrative support skills including word processing and editing, spreadsheet and database maintenance, scheduling and calendar management (preferably with web-based tools) are preferred.

  • Experience working within a team environment is preferred.

  • Documented or demonstrated working knowledge of analytical laboratory operations,  logistics, hazardous waste management and business-related software such as Microsoft Office.

  • Possession of 40 hour HAZWOPER and RCRA Training preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follows specific guidance and drafts SOPs for management review.

  • Samples receipt and data entry for LIMS tracking following detailed instructions.

  • Samples preparation and analysis as described above following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and EPA reference methods.

  • Provides general laboratory support (e.g., glassware preparation) following detailed instructions.

  • Typical assignments require working on your feet while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE, generally a lab coat, safety glasses and gloves) for most of the day.

  • Performs filing, data entry, word processing or similar clerical tasks may be assigned.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree in Physical Sciences or Business is required, and a minimum of three (3) years of laboratory, field sampling/monitoring, data review or other relevant experience or HS Diploma with 6 years of experience in an environmental laboratory

         

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office/clinic/lab setting. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The work requires light physical exertion. May be required to perform handling activities with lightweight or easily moved items (e.g., books, file folders, boxes of office supplies, small machine parts, lab samples etc.). May perform movement activities for brief periods. May operate light equipment. Must be able to perform repetitive motions for brief periods. May be confined to a work area. The work environment involves moderate hazards, risks or discomforts. Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel.  Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May be required to lift, push or pull 50 pounds or more using cart or hand truck. Specific vision abilities required by this job include clarity of vision both near and far. Ability to speak and hear. Ability to identify and distinguish colors. Potential for exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens. May be required to wear safety and personal protective equipment.

The estimated pay range for this role is $50K to $64K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
